Ron Vanderhoof has been surveying since 1993, with the last 22 years as a licensed Professional in North Carolina. After serving in the United States Coast Guard, Ron started college not knowing what he wanted to do for a career. He took a surveying class at West Virginia Tech and was hooked from there on out. His first experience was as a rodman for one of his professors, Jim Cook. Surveying in the rural mountains of West Virginia, he gained knowledge that no classroom could ever teach.

While finishing his last two years of college, he worked for Mountaineer Engineering and Surveying in Summerville, WV. It is there where he surveyed underground in the coal mines, and although it was a great experience, he knew he wanted to avoid spending his career underground. So, after graduating college with a degree in Surveying and Civil Engineering Technology, Ron, his wife Cindy, and their young daughter Emily moved to the Raleigh, North Carolina area to flatter lands and a warmer climate.

After three years in North Carolina, he was awarded his Professional Land Surveyors license. He has worked for civil engineering firms in the Raleigh area and the last 16 years as a survey manager for two of the largest construction companies in central and eastern North Carolina. Ron is a member of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors and the National Society of Professional Surveyors.
